Deck? Patio? Porch?

Seriously, what's the difference? Well, I'm gonna look them up, because I don't know them, and I doubt you do either.

Deck - A roofless, floored structure, typically with a railing, that adjoins a house

Porch - A covered platform, usually having a separate roof, at an entrance to a building.

Patio - An outdoor space for dining or recreation that adjoins a residence and is often paved.

Portico - A porch or walkway with a roof supported by columns, often leading to the entrance of a building.

Veranda - A porch or balcony, usually roofed and often partly enclosed, extending along the outside of a building. Also called gallery.

Balcony - A platform that projects from the wall of a building and is surrounded by a railing, balustrade, or parapet.

Stoop - Originally, a covered porch with seats, at a house door; the Dutch stoep as introduced by the Dutch into New York. Afterward, an out-of-door flight of stairs of from seven to fourteen steps, with platform and parapets, leading to an entrance door some distance above the street; the French perron. Hence, any porch, platform, entrance stairway, or small veranda, at a house door.

A Great Pic of Beacon

I was looking around on Google Earth and found this photo. It helps to put the routes in perspective, 'cause I get lost up there.

Last weekend Nathan, China and I did the SE Corner route. That's the route I soloed last summer with Joe and Jaime. This time, though I took pro with me, I didn't place any. Since there were 3 climbers I just tried to move as fast as possible, which probably wasn't all that fast. Once up on Grassy Ledges, I went too far to the left, and climbed up to the Land of the Little People from the left side, which is a little sketchy. I belayed China and Nathan up, then we soloed/scrambled the rest. It's all low 5th class or 4th class, but it's exposed. Both Nathan and China did very well. It'd be easy to get really freaked out, and they only got a little freaked out. But the rock is solid and nothing but jugs, so I wasn't worried. It's a great route!

Knocked the F*CK out!

Grandpa John is a freakin' nutcase. I'm pretty sure the light of Jesus is burning that pickle from the inside out. So, remember that next time you pray to Jeebus. He could be sizzlin' yer insides.

Not videos but still awesome

No Lady, I'm NOT A Gemini

Seriously, just because I look like some friend of yours doesn't mean I'm the same sign. Why do people look at me confused-like when I say I don't have a sign? I'm none of those things. I'm me. Get used to it. There's a possibility that you = you + (some stupid astrological sign + the notion that imaginary shapes the stars make might have an effect on your life) but me = me. Simple.

We're Still Hetero-Lifemates, Just Further Apart

For the last few months I've been preparing for Bobby to head off to law school. His trip to S. America was good practice, as he was gone 3 weeks. Every dynasty has to come to an end. This one started freshman year in college, when I moved out of a room with the Smartest Man In The World and Bobby took my spot. In no time we were good friends, taking Calc II with a Russian spy first then a barbershop quartet master second.

Lots of frisbee, a cat, and a few years later, he and Gillian moved out to Portland. He asked me to move out once, and I told him I'd chill in StL for a bit longer. He called up a few weeks later, and I agreed to move out to Oregon. My only intel was from Fugitives and Refugees. Without even visiting, I moved out, and never regretted that decision. I knew I could trust Bobby's opinion on something that important.

4 years and 4 different addresses later, it's time for him to move on. We never fought, once, in the 8 years we've known each other. Never even raised our voices at each other. I think that tells enough about our relationship. The only thing I ever got upset about was how he took his 42" LCD 1080p HD TV with him when he moved out. Sometimes he can be SO selfish.

It's been 5 years since I was in CO last. This time I made it out for Popes's wedding. The Very Reverend and Rector told us we weren't allowed to take photos during the ceremony, and this is the only "good" shot I took:

Yeeeeeeeeeah, not so good with the camera... Anyway, it was a blast. I few in Friday night and stayed at Zach's, a friend from college. It was great to see him for a few days. Sebs, another friend and climbing buddy from college was in town too, as was Eric Venker. Here's a pic of Sebs Grrrring down on a V12 up at Mt. Evans. We started off at Echo Lake, 10,600 ft in elevation. Because of the altitude, I didn't do much climbing. 4 problems, V4 and lower. Still had a hell of a time though. Congrats to Curtis for finally sending Dali sit start (V9 folks, V9.)

Eric cranking on a V12.

The next few days were spent with Brent and Tara, climbing around Boulder.

We first went up to Avalon in Boulder Canyon, where we warmed up on 2 of the funnest 10s I've been on in a long time. I ended the day by sending a 12a second try. It really should have been an onsight, but oh well.
I ended up skipping clips 1, 3 and 5 on the send. w00t!

Check out the rest of the pics here.

Btw, that pic of me flexing my back with all those scratches... that's Graston. Brent did some "therapy" and it was owwie, but I did feel better the next day. I'll go ahead and attribute my V7 onsight at The Spot to that sadistic man's "therapy."

The Tamest "Uncensored" Ad Ever

Eva Mendes is hot, we all know that. She just did a "racy" ad for Calvin Klein, which can be seen here (all the youtube versions are no longer available)

I mean... ok, it's hot and all, but enough to make the noise it's making? I guess I'm just adding to it, but it's tame. Admit it.
