Good Shepherd

No, not Jeebus, Matt Damon.
My mom and I just watched The Good Shepherd which was a very good movie. While Bobby had heard it was slow (it was) the slowness was necessary. 2.5 hours long, it was very involved and decently complicated. I'm sure I'd benefit from seeing it again, catching all those nuances I missed.

Last night I saw Invincible and that was entertaining too. Mainly I hoped for Vince and Janet were going to do it (the evening before "the birth" of Jeebus always brings out the worst in me...) And of course, being a freakin' Disney movie, I was let down.

My First Night on Raymond

Twas the night before Xmas (Eve) and something something something.
We got the beds and essentials moved over, now just the big stuff. It's nice to be in the house now. We still don't have heat in our apartment, and we won't be having any soon either.

We're watching LGrill's cats while she's in Mexico. While they're cute, they're also rambunctious. Marli is better behaved than Oscar, but they both still knock shit over and get into stuff they shouldn't. Still, cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!

Unscrewing cabinets from walls can be hard

So it's best to just bash them with a hammer.

I'm playing soccer again

Bobby and I went to a 8am indoor pickup game this morning and had a shitload of fun. It would have been nice to warm up some, as my lungs were killing me 15 minutes into the game. Once I almost threw up and caught my breath back I was ok. I even scored 2 goals. My ball handling skills come from somewhere. Not sure where, but I felt like I could actually play.

In January we start our indoor league which I'm really looking forward to. Just need to get a comfortable pair of shoes and I'm golden.

Update:
(12/18/06) Holy shit I'm sore. Even the arches of my feet hurt. Soon I'll be the mayor of New Shoe City.

Business is Good!

I haven't taken many business trips, and those that I have taken have been pretty plain. Well, tonight I'm up in Seattle, in my room with a king size bed and a bitchin' jacuzzi. This is pretty much how I want my room someday.

Oh, and tropical rolls are my new favorite sushi. Imagine mango and salmon on top, avocado and strawberry inside, in a blueberry sauce. Goddamn it was so good. I just need to find a place down here that has that, or maybe make my own?

I love selling books

As you know, I bought a house. So I decided to go through my books and sell some off. Powells ended up paying me $170 for the books they could re-sell, and the rest I just tossed or gave away. Freakin' awesome.

Is there a business model for picking up books and selling that shit? Maybe... at least for some extra scratch every once in a while.

Trail of Dead

Gotta love free tickets!
A few weeks ago I was listening to The Bottom Forty on 94.7 FM at work, streaming that over the interweb. The host said he'd hook someone up with 2 free tickets to the Trail of Dead show if the correct city of origin was emailed in. Knowing they're from Austin, Texas I sent that email within seconds of hearing the question. I didn't hear anything back for a few days, when I did get hooked up on the guest list.

So, Celebration and the Blood Brothers opened up. I had seen the Bros before, and their obnoxious screamo sounded familiar. It's not that I didn't like it. I did. C'mon, Set Fire to the Face of Fire is a TIGHT song.

I had never heard of Celebration, and I really liked them. They had some of that New York punk mixed in with the psychedelic sounds you'd hear from the Mars Volta. I liked them a lot, and hopefully I can get their cd soon.

AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD
What a killer name. The first 3 songs I recognized from Source Tags & Code
and a few I recognized from So Divided. After that, I didn't really recognize the songs, which was really too bad. They have so many I'd love to hear live. Maybe next time!

The key is MINE!

That's right, this morning the real estate agent picked up the check for the house and left me with the key to my new house! It's here. I have a little work to do, but I'll be moved in by the first of the year. Exciting to say the least!
