Lots of links to share

I've got a lot of stuff to share, so here we go:

ok ok ok

the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were damn good on Wednesday. The opening bands were not as good. The first, some strange fusion acidrock/punk/metal band with a Janis Joplin meets Courtney Love singer, was on waaaaaaay too long for me. The next band was tolerable, though nothing special.

Though I wasn't suprised at how good the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were, I was suprised by how much fun they seemed to have on stage. To be honest, Karen O smiling as much as she did really made the show THAT much more fun for me. I'll be seeing them again next time they come around. I don't know when, but it'll happen.

I's been around

I've had a good last week...

Went bouldering at Carver on Saturday with lovely weather and dry lower boulders, which were realy fun. My friend Christina was up from SLC with her bf Sundev, so that was cool. Played poker at Yosh's and proceeded to hit the strip club. We went to the Dolphin II, and it was kinda slow. RazorNips was hot though.

Went to Sauvie Island with Stacey on Sunday and just LAID OUT, which was really nice. I started reading Earth Abides which so far has been very enjoyable.

Yesterday I did a few routes and some decent bouldering. Tonight I had a great yoga class and got a lot of work done.

All in all, good stuff.

Thursday, April 20, 2006 is pretty sweet

sound quality was fine, prices cheap, and the allTunes software is really nice for downloading the tracks. has a nice article into the supposed legality/illegality of

it sounds like under current Russian copyright laws digital distribution is the loophole that allows to do what they do. And US import laws validate the private/non-distribution use of importing the tracks you purchase from

what does this all mean? most likely this is legal because of some smart people looking in the right places to do something cool.

Check it out.

that's right, I'm trying it out. The initial credit on your account is at least $10 to a credit card. I'm not afraid of getting ripped off either, for 2 reasons.
  1. My buddy Mickey said it's sweet, and he knows what he's talking about
  2. I had heard of this site YEARS ago, and it's still around. So not being shut down is a big plus
I'm going to be downloading
  • Ini Kamoze - Lyrical Gangsta
  • Panic! At The Disco - A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
  • Queens Of The Stone Age - Queens Of The Stone Age
all for $3.95 USD. We'll see how it goes!

I hate it when my "high speed" internet connection crawls.
I also don't like crappy network hardware. DLink is definitely the worst company out there. I'm not all that happy with a Linksys router (WRT54G v5) either. You'd think by the 4th or 5th version they'd have figured out the features users want. Anyway, I'm just grumpy. Should have eaten dinner tonight.

2 things I have to post about

  1. Auto Pilot on Rated R by Queens of the Stone Age - frickin' kickass song.

  2. Synergy - I had tried this out a few years ago. I don't remember which version it was in, but it's decently stable now. This desktop I'm writing on now is the server, and both my laptops (W2K and XP Pro) are clients that I can switch to. It'll share the keyboard/mouse with OSX, Linux, Unix, and whatever OS they've built it for. If you're running a few different computers, give it a try.

Holy Ass

My schedule is so whacked. Work on Saturday went from 1pm to 9am Sunday morning. We got things up and running. Yet it was a grueling process... something that could have been avoided if the right people were in the loop early on.

Our new place is pretty sweet. Once we get everything unpacked I think it'll suit us very well. I need to come up with an idea for my bedroom. It's not big, and it's very plain. I'm taking the doors off the closet for sure and I'll figure out something for my windowed doors.
